Bungee Jumping in Nusa Penida: A Leap of Fear and Freedom

Again and again—I seek adventure in every trip I take. So when I found myself in Bali, Indonesia, I knew I had to try one of the island’s most thrilling experiences: bungee jumping in Nusa Penida.

I had seen it countless times on Instagram Reels—people jumping off a cliff into the vast ocean below, screaming, laughing, and living in the moment. I couldn’t help but imagine, what if it were me? What if I jumped? But then came the doubts—What if I fall into the ocean? I can’t even swim! Still, watching those pure moments of joy after the jump gave me a rush. And since I’ve always loved the thrill of free falls, I told myself: Why not try it?

The Place: Xtreme Park Bali

Xtreme Park Bali—also known as XPark Bali—is an adrenaline lover’s dream. It’s perched dramatically on the cliffs of Nusa Penida, overlooking the turquoise waters of Turtle Beach. But unlike traditional bungee jumping, this is a 130-meter rope swing—you freefall, then glide in a massive arc over the ocean. The view, the wind, and the drop all come together for an unforgettable experience.

What makes this spot so special is its setting. The backdrop of crashing waves, towering cliffs, and the vast blue sea adds a cinematic beauty to the experience. It’s raw, breathtaking, and far more personal than the commercial bungee towers you might find elsewhere in Bali.

Booking the Experience

I booked my jump online in advance via their website: xpark-bali.easyweek.io.
I scheduled it for June 16, 2025, at 3:12 PM, giving me enough time to enjoy my island tour in the morning.

The Jump Day

I arrived around 3 PM, and the area was already buzzing with people. There was a queue near the jump site, and my excitement doubled. Inside a dome tent, I showed my reservation and completed the registration.

Price Details:

  • Bungee Jump: 2,700,000 IDR (cash) or 3,000,000 IDR (card)
  • Photo/Video Packages:
    • 1 action cam + phone shots: 400,000 IDR
    • 2 action cams + phone shots: 500,000 IDR
    • Drone (must be paired with one of the above): 700,000 IDR (cash) / 900,000 IDR (card)

After payment, I received an official receipt to hand over to the instructors at the jump platform. I watched a few people ahead of me jump—some hesitant, some screaming, all exhilarated. I wore my usual “adventure outfit”: a comfy white t-shirt and shorts.

Then it was my turn.

Gearing Up

The staff fitted me with a harness, helmet, and handed me an action cam. You can opt to have the cam on your helmet, but I chose to hold it—better control of the angle and expressions!

They double-checked all gear, ensuring everything was secure. I noticed that if jumpers hesitated too long, instructors would give them a nudge—each person is only allowed around 2 minutes at the edge. I didn’t want to be pushed. I was determined to jump on my own.

The Jump

“Don’t look down,” the instructor told me. “Look at the horizon—it helps calm your nerves.”
So I did.

With my left hand holding the action cam and my right gripping the rope (probably to keep it from tangling during the fall), the countdown began.
1… 2… 3… JUMP!

I leapt. I screamed.
The freefall was so fast, it felt like a second of dying—but in the best, most thrilling way. For a split second, you forget the harness is there. But I’ve done jumps like this before, and I’ve gotten better at riding the wave of fear. I was able to enjoy the moment.

After the freefall, I swung wide across the ocean, like a human pendulum. The drone hovered, capturing every scream, smile, and wave I gave mid-air.

The Aftermath

Once the swing slowed, I was slowly pulled back up. The staff handed me a QR code that linked to a Google Drive folder where the drone and action cam footage would be uploaded within 24 hours.

Back on the platform, I checked the videos on my phone—and I was beaming.
I did it.
What once was a daydream, a video on someone else’s screen, was now my reality.
I was the one who jumped.
And I’m so proud of myself.

Final Thoughts

If you’re heading to Bali and craving an adventure that makes your heart race and your soul scream with joy, bungee jumping at Xtreme Park Bali is an experience you won’t forget. It’s not just about the fall—it’s about proving to yourself that you can leap despite the fear.

Another memory for the books.
Another story to tell.
And yes—I’d do it all over again.

Important Reminders Before You Jump

Before you take that leap, here are a few reminders to help you make the most of your bungee jumping experience in Nusa Penida:

1. Book in Advance – Slots can fill up fast, especially during peak travel seasons. Booking online in advance ensures you get your preferred time and date. It also helps you plan the rest of your island adventure accordingly.

2. Wear Comfortable Clothes – Opt for breathable clothes that won’t get in the way of the harness or camera. Avoid anything too loose or flowy that might flap or tangle mid-jump.

3. Arrive Early – Arriving at least 15–30 minutes before your scheduled jump gives you time to register, settle your nerves, and soak in the atmosphere.

4. Choose Your Video Package Wisely – If this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you, consider getting both action cams and drone footage. You’ll thank yourself later when you see the epic angles!

5. Trust the Instructors – The crew at Xtreme Park Bali are professionals who prioritize your safety. Follow their instructions and ask questions if anything feels unclear.

6. Face Your Fear – It’s okay to be scared. Everyone is. But the courage to jump—even when you’re afraid—is where the magic happens. You’ll come out braver, lighter, and more alive.

So, are you ready to jump?

Because on the other side of fear… is freedom.
