After my trip to Dahilayan Adventure Park in Bukidnon last November 18, 2024, I made sure to squeeze in paragliding in my schedule before my flight. It’s one of my bucket list items, so I was determined to make it happen. I searched online for paragliding contacts and luckily found the Amaya View CDO Paragliding Facebook page, which provided a contact number (09129221891). I called them, and they were accommodating, allowing walk-ins as well.

I took a ride to Amaya View and paid the entrance fee of around Php 100.00 for a regular pass since I was only there for paragliding. They also offer a different pass for full access to the venue’s facilities, which include activities like ziplining, rope courses, airsoft, and more. I called my contact upon arrival and was directed to the top of the restaurant, where the pilot was waiting for me.

The paragliding package costs Php 3,500, which includes a GoPro camera to capture your flight. They don’t require a down payment since the flight depends on wind conditions, and there’s a chance it might not push through. When I arrived, someone else was getting ready to fly, so the staff took my details and asked me to standby as I was next.
It was around lunchtime, so I decided to grab a meal at the restaurant below. The view from the restaurant was stunning, as Amaya View is said to be the highest peak in Cagayan de Oro.

It turns out the wind has to blow directly toward us for the flight to happen. We waited for about 30 minutes or more under the sun before the wind was finally in our favor. There were several attempts where we thought we could fly, but the conditions weren’t quite right. You really have to stay alert because once the wind is good, you and the pilot need to run immediately to take off. It was exciting!

Once we were airborne, it was such a fun and relaxing experience. The stunning view of Cagayan de Oro below made it even more memorable. Unfortunately, we were only in the air for about 2 minutes because the wind direction shifted again—a condition the pilot called “cross.” Despite the short flight, it was absolutely worth it. I’m definitely coming back to fly again!
Paragliding at Amaya View is definitely worth a try! It brings out the inner child in me, fulfilling that wish to soar above the beautiful landscapes and experience the joy of flying.
