Dahilayan Adventure Park - Bukidnon

November 19, 2024

When visiting Bukidnon, adventure is a must! One of the most famous spots here is Dahilayan Adventure Park, which was conveniently included in the tour package I booked.

My day, November 18, 2024, started early, with the driver picking me up from my accommodation in Impasug-ong at 6 AM. On the way, we passed by scenic pineapple plantations (check out my Bukidnon Day 3 blog under Travel Category for more details). We also passed by some inns near the adventure park where visitors can stay. There were also people walking along the road. It seemed like a great place to go jogging—despite the warm sunlight, the cool breeze made the weather refreshing. We arrived at Dahilayan by 8AM, greeted by the chilly weather, towering pine trees, and strong winds.

The park was still closed when we got there, but service vehicles and staff began arriving shortly. Feeling hungry, my driver and I ate at a nearby karinderya (local eatery), which served delicious home-cooked meals at budget-friendly prices.

By the time we returned, around 9AM the registration and ticket booths had opened, and there was already a line—even though it was a Monday. Unfortunately, the staff announced that many activities were temporarily suspended due to strong winds. Wind speeds were at 29-45 kph, far above the 7 kph safety limit. This meant popular attractions like the 840-meter zipline and Razorback couldn’t operate, as falling pine branches posed a risk.

Like many others, I was disappointed because I wanted to try everything. But instead of dwelling on it, I made the most of the available activities. I chose the rope course and Drop Zone, which turned out to be thrilling experiences on their own. Registration fee is Php 100.00 per head. See the detailed prices per activity below.

At Dahilayan Adventure Park, you can rent a camera to capture your activities. After using it, you just scan the QR code to access your video. However, at ₱300 per activity, I found it a bit pricey, so I skipped renting one.

The first activity I tried was the rope course. It looked so exciting and challenging, and I couldn’t wait to get started. The course has four levels, with the last one being the toughest. Of course, my goal was to finish all the levels—and luckily, I did!

The most challenging part for me was the section with the hanging tires. Another part looked tricky at first, but it turned out to be easier than expected. If you’re afraid of heights, this activity might not be for you.

It requires good balance and focus, as well as a calm mindset. The key is to move slowly, plan your steps, and keep your momentum through each obstacle.

After completing the rope course, I took a short break to catch my breath before heading to my next challenge: the Drop Zone.

Standing in the Drop Zone area, I felt nervous and hesitant, especially since no other customers were around. To ease my anxiety, I watched videos of others trying it out. After a few minutes, I decided to go for it. It is a 120ft freefall in a manmade lake.

For this activity, you’re strapped in a face-down position, with your legs slightly bent and arms stretched out like an airplane. As I was slowly lifted higher and higher, I couldn’t help but close my eyes—it was terrifying! At the top, you pull the release cord, and suddenly, you’re in freefall. For a few seconds, it felt like my heart stopped. But after the initial drop, it was pure fun, swinging back and forth through the air.

Unfortunately, I only managed to try two activities because of the strong winds. I couldn’t wait for conditions to improve since I had another destination to visit. (Check out my detailed blog on Paragliding in Cagayan de Oro in the Adventure category)

Even though my time at Dahilayan was short, I had a blast. These activities were unforgettable, and I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for a thrill. Another adventure unlocked, and it’s definitely one for the books!
