Macau - Part 2

Exploring Coloane Village in the Morning

The next day, I woke up around 6:30 AM and started preparing for my itinerary. My hotel did not include breakfast, so I decided to eat outside and explore the city early. Just a three-minute walk from my hotel was a bus stop. I waited there and took Bus 21A going to Coloane Village, with a fare of 6 MOP.

Coloane Village is known for its peaceful atmosphere, colorful Portuguese-style houses, and charming seaside views. Compared to the busy parts of Macau, this area feels more relaxed and traditional. It’s the perfect place to start the day slowly while enjoying the quieter side of the city.

After arriving, I spent less than an hour simply walking around and exploring the village. Thankfully, the weather was warm, which made the morning walk even more pleasant.

Breakfast at Lord Stow’s Garden Café

While walking around, I searched for a café where I could have breakfast and eventually found Lord Stow’s Garden Café. One of the staff members there happened to be Filipino, which immediately made me feel more comfortable. It’s always nice to meet fellow Filipinos when traveling abroad.

For breakfast, I ordered:

  • Croissant
  • British scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam

The total cost was 64 MOP, and everything tasted amazing. The scones paired perfectly with the clotted cream and strawberry jam. After eating, I politely asked the Filipino crew member if he could take a photo of me. Thankfully, he was very kind and even took really nice photos.

Trying the Famous Lord Stow’s Egg Tart

Right next to the café was the famous Lord Stow’s Bakery, known for its iconic Macau egg tarts. Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying them. I bought one box containing 6 pieces for 65 MOP. I immediately tasted one, and I finally understood why it’s so famous. The egg tart was warm, creamy, and perfectly flaky. It was easily one of the best pastries I had during the trip.

Exploring Taipa Village

After spending some time in Coloane Village, I continued my trip to Taipa Village. I rode Bus 25, which cost another 6 MOP. However, after a while, I realized that I had taken the wrong bus. So, I got off and waited for another one. This time, I took Bus 22, which was the correct route to Taipa. That meant another 6 MOP fare, but mistakes like this are part of traveling—and sometimes part of the adventure too.

When I arrived in Taipa Village, I immediately noticed how lively and crowded the area was compared to Coloane. There were many tourists, souvenir shops, restaurants, and street food stalls everywhere. I explored the area on foot and eventually entered a cute souvenir shop where I bought a ref magnet for 28 MOP.

After wandering around and enjoying the lively atmosphere of Taipa, I continued my journey to the famous Cotai area.

Visiting The Londoner Macau and the Cotai Strip

From Taipa, I took Bus 26A going to The Londoner Macau, which again cost 6 MOP. The Londoner Macau is a luxury integrated resort inspired by London’s iconic landmarks. The complex features a replica of Big Ben, British-themed architecture, luxury hotels, shopping areas, and entertainment venues.

When I arrived, I realized that this was the same area I had seen the night before during my bus ride—the place that left me completely amazed. I took photos of the surroundings and even asked a fellow tourist to take a picture of me. After that, I spent some time simply walking around and appreciating the beauty of the place. The entire complex is massive.

This area is actually part of the famous Cotai Strip, Macau’s version of the Las Vegas Strip. Many of the city’s most luxurious resorts and casinos are located here, including The Venetian Macau and The Parisian Macau. As I walked around, I noticed many couples doing pre-wedding or wedding photoshoots. The architecture and scenery make it a perfect backdrop for special photos.

Gondola Ride at The Venetian Macau

One of the highlights of my trip was the Gondola Ride at The Venetian Macau. I booked my ticket through Klook for Php 983.50. When I arrived, there was a bit of a waiting time. At first, I thought the gondola ride would be private, but it turned out to be a shared ride. There were five passengers in total—two couples and me—plus the gondolier. The ride lasted about 15 to 20 minutes and took us through the beautiful indoor canals inside The Venetian, designed to resemble the canals of Venice, Italy.

The gondolier guided the boat while we passed under charming bridges and beside Italian-style buildings. Since I was traveling solo, I simply asked one of the passengers sitting in front of me to take photos of me during the ride. It was a relaxing and unique experience, and definitely one of the must-try attractions in Macau.

Visiting Wynn Palace and the Free SkyCab Ride

After exploring The Venetian, I took Bus MT4 going to Wynn Palace, which cost 6 MOP. From the bus stop, I walked for about five minutes toward the entrance of Wynn Palace. At first, I felt a little nervous because I wasn’t sure if I had entered the correct door. When I walked in, the hallway was very quiet, spacious, and extremely elegant, with luxurious interiors that made the place feel even more grand.

For a moment, I thought I might have entered the wrong area since there were hardly any people around. But after walking further inside, I finally found the way to the free gondola ride, also known as the SkyCab.

There was quite a long line, but thankfully it moved quickly. The SkyCab is a free cable car ride that takes visitors around the Wynn Palace Performance Lake, offering a beautiful aerial view of the dancing fountain and the resort’s impressive architecture. Inside the cabin, there were four tourists including me. As the cable car slowly moved above the lake, we could see the colorful fountain show below and the magnificent hotel in front of us. I asked the woman sitting across from me if she could take a photo, and she captured a really beautiful shot that I truly loved.

It was a short ride, but definitely a memorable experience.
