Skydive - Siquijor

March 10, 2025

No trip is complete without an adventure. So, for my Siquijor trip, I took the plunge—literally—by trying the island’s famous skydiving experience. A skyjump in paradise!

I’m a thrill-seeker who loves adrenaline-pumping activities, and nothing beats the exhilarating rush of freefalling from the sky.

Before heading to Siquijor, I booked my skydive in advance. I inquired through Skydive Siquijor’s Instagram account, and they responded promptly, answering all my questions. If you’re interested, you can check out their official website at https://skydivesiquijor.com/

Initially, I planned to go for the most affordable package. However, after chatting with them on Instagram, they sent me a video showcasing a package that includes an outside cameraman. Seeing the difference, I knew I had to go for it. With the basic package, only your tandem instructor has a camera, but with the upgraded package, an outside cameraman captures your entire jump from the plane—an incredible way to relive the experience! Without hesitation, I chose the better package, prioritizing the memory over the price gap.

To secure a slot, a ₱5,000 reservation fee is a must. They accept full payments via GCash and bank transfer. Credit card payments are also available but come with a 5% surcharge.

I scheduled my skydive for March 6, 2025, at 9 AM—the earliest slot—so I could maximize the rest of my day exploring Siquijor. As advised by the staff, I wore comfortable clothes and shoes, ready for the jump of a lifetime!

My tour guide dropped me off at the Skydive Siquijor office, located at Skydive Siquijor Bldg., Brgy. Cang-alwang, Siquijor 6225 (right in front of Cang-alwang National High School). I arrived at around 8:50 AM and went straight inside.

The first step was watching a safety briefing, which covered essential information about skydiving. After that, I signed a waiver for the activity. Then, I was led outside, where my tandem instructor—a foreigner—helped me put on my harness. As he secured the straps, he explained what I needed to do during the jump: how to exit the plane, the correct body position in freefall, and what to expect throughout the experience.

Once I was geared up, a van took us to Siquijor Airport, where the plane was waiting. The staff was incredibly friendly, and I shared the ride with my tandem instructor, the pilot, the outside cameraman, and another skydiver who was also doing a jump. They were fun to talk to, making the experience even more exciting. The ride took only about 5–10 minutes before we arrived at the airport.

Before boarding, my tandem instructor did a short interview for the video. He asked if it was my first time—yes, my first skydive!—and what made me decide to try it. I told him, “I love the thrill of jumping.” He also asked if I had a message for my family and friends, to which I simply said, “I love you guys.”

Then, the excitement hit me. Surprisingly, there was no nervousness at all—just pure adrenaline. I don’t know why, but I was beyond excited. I could already picture myself leaping out of the plane, just like I had imagined during my past flights.

They told me to just smile and enjoy—and that’s exactly what I did!

The flight took about 20 minutes, climbing up to 10,000 feet above the breathtaking paradise of Siquijor. From up there, I could also see parts of Cebu. The view was absolutely stunning—floating above the island, taking in its beauty from a perspective I had never seen before.

Then, the moment of truth arrived. As we approached the jump, I reminded myself: Don’t close your eyes. Feel everything.

And then—oh my God!—we jumped! 10,000 feet above the ground, straight into the sky, with the cool, strong breeze rushing against me. Everything happened so fast. The freefall was pure exhilaration, an adrenaline rush like no other. And then—I was flying.

I made all the hand signals I could in front of the camera, showing just how ecstatic I was.

Then, the parachute deployed, and we soared back up for a moment. My tandem instructor asked if I was okay. I was more than okay—I was beyond happy! I told him I was speechless because that was exactly how I felt. The whole experience was so surreal.

Then, he let me control the parachute. I tried steering right, then left. I quickly realized that being a skydiver isn’t easy—it takes serious strength to pull the strings against the powerful winds. He guided me through it, helping me adjust my directions.

After a few minutes, we started descending, but before landing, he let me fly several more times, gliding through the sky while admiring the beauty of Siquijor.

I was so happy.

Finally, it was time to land. The touchdown was incredibly smooth, and just like before, the staff was so accommodating. After landing, they did a quick interview, asking about my experience.

I smiled and said, “It was so fun and cool! I’ll definitely do it again!”

After the jump, they let me rest while they prepared my videos and certificate—a keepsake of this unforgettable adventure. When everything was ready, I proudly held my certificate and took photos, leaving my mark on their signature wall and even signing my name up on the ceiling—a small but meaningful way to commemorate the experience.

If there’s one thing I can say, it’s this: You HAVE to try this at least once in your life. It’s not just worth it—it’s beyond worth it. The freefall may have lasted only minutes, but the memory will last a lifetime.

I can’t recommend Skydive Siquijor and their incredible team enough. Five stars isn’t even enough to describe their kindness, professionalism, and top-notch service. They made this experience truly special, from start to finish.

Even as I write this, I can still feel the rush, the thrill, the sheer joy of flying and jumping. The feeling lingers, like a beautiful hangover from the skies. This moment—this experience—I will treasure forever.
